France Welcomes Launch of First Vibration Platform

With a line up of high-level sports celebrities including top French football coach Paolo Rongoni, Olympic Handball Gold Medallist, Nikola Karabatik and French Marathon champion, Philippe Rémond, DJO launched their new Compex Winplate at the French Olympic National Committee in September.

For 30 years, Compex has been at the forefront of muscle stimulation, providing intelligent muscle care solutions for athletes whether in training or in rehab.

Their latest innovation, the unique ‘Compex Winplate’ is the first ‘vibration platform’ designed for athletes. Drawing on their technological expertise in consultation with physiotherapists, trainers and athletes, Compex has based the Winplate on certified medical technology (MDD certified) which gives it a guarantee of quality, efficacy and safety.

Vibration platforms operate on the principle of whole body vibration, where mechanical vibrations are transmitted to the body via a vibrating platform. The controlled vertical vibrations generate a reflex muscle response which triggers a continuous chain of involuntary contractions allowing 100% of muscle fibres to work out as opposed to around 40% experienced in a traditional training session. This means that the whole muscle is worked rather than just part of it, making the training session more effective.

Being in complete control of the vibrations across three parameters (quality, strength and frequency), allows the athlete to refine his training programme depending on his needs.

In addition to its sports application, the platform can help prevent bone degradation and osteoporosis¹. The platform actually exerts significant pressure on the bones when working the muscles. The body reacts by releasing key hormones that help prevent bone degradation. This has a positive effect on the nervous system, and can help improve hormonal balance².

This new launch was very well received in Paris and the visiting delegates were able to hear first hand the benefits of whole body vibration. If you would like further information on the Compex Winplate click here
