POSITION SUMMARY / JOB PURPOSE

Product Managers are responsible for tactical execution relating to a group of product lines, including developing materials and following processes required for new product development and launch, product line maintenance, promotions and messaging, production planning, and field sales tools.  Product Managers are technical experts in their product lines.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

Education – Third level degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field.

Experience – 2 to 3 years product marketing experience. Medical Device industry experience preferred. Demonstrated critical/analytical thinking ability.

 

Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.  Ability to write technical reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Fluency in foreign languages preferably German and French is essential.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Product Development
    Manage product development initiatives to ensure products are launched that meet customer needs and market demands.
    Manage all aspects of new product introductions, including developing and communicating launch packages, collaterals, and plans.
    Actively participate and/or lead regular meetings with cross-functional product team members; follow up on action items.
    Collect and submit data for inclusion into the New Product Proposal process (sales forecast, competitive information, market prices.)
  • Product line management and strategy
    Develop and maintain product gap maps.
    Understand competitive environment and develop appropriate product  positioning.
    Create competitive matrices and selling strategies.
    Support market managers to develop long-term product strategies and road maps.
    Recommend new product introductions and product rationalization opportunities.
    Research and assess market opportunities for new product ideas.
    Provide monthly product forecasts to operations to support sales and operations planning.
    Collaborate with US market managers, sales operations, manufacturing, quality, and engineering to enhance or improve existing products.
  • Promotions and channel support
    Develop and update product line cross-references based on input and collaboration with sales operations team.
    Develop and maintain list pricing and field discount guidelines.
    Develop sales support tools in collaboration with sales operations team.
  • Other
    Special projects, such as researching trends, developing reports, and other projects as required from time to time.
  • Physical – Required sitting 75% of the time, and standing/walking 25% of the time.  Requires ability to meet deadlines and maintain heavy workload in fast paced environment
  • Manual Dexterity - Requires the use of hands to successfully carry out the responsibilities of the position
