Innovation at ISAKOS DJO Launches New Technology Advancements & Patellar Brace at Biannual World Congress in Italy | June 2007
ISAKOS held one of its best ever Orthopaedic Congresses this year in the beautiful historic city of Florence. With over 600 unexpected visitors registering during the Congress, ISAKOS was rewarded for the tremendous effort they made to improve the quality of their educational and scientific programmes, a task which is encouraged by DJO and other leading Orthopaedic Companies through the ISAKOS Global Leadership Project.
With the international key opinion leaders all gathered together, the ISAKOS congress is an ideal opportunity for DJO to organise satellite meetings and to introduce new products.
On Saturday May 26th, DJO, together with Prof Arendt, Almquist and Fulkerson successfully organised a PF Experts Meeting on “Understanding PF Pain”. It led to some very fruitful discussions and the organisers will summarise the most important conclusions over the next few months. More news on this initiative will follow in our next issue.

On Tuesday May 29th, a ‘mini’ Maghellan meeting with Dr Huyllebrouck and Mr Maffulli as chairmen was organised by the Maghellan Society & DJO. As the new owners of Aircast, DJO were pleased to confirm that they are fully committed to continuing the funding originally put in place by Aircast now and into the future. We will keep you informed through this letter of any initiatives for “Alumni” travelling fellows that DJO might organise during the AAOS in March 2008 in San Francisco. |

DonJoy are renowned for their innovative technological product design, and the company’s ‘FourcePoint Hinge Technology™’ was developed to enhance the ‘Four-Points-of-Leverage™’ system, further improving the protective effect of knee braces. The new ‘Low Profile FourcePoint Hinge™’ launched at ISAKOS, and now available on all custom-made ‘Defiance’ braces (Defiance, Defiance III, and Defiance III Female Fource), has been re-designed to be less bulky and will more efficiently meet the high requirements expected of a high-spec custom-made brace by both patients and athletes. |

DonJoy’s unique and patented measuring device, the CCMI, used to accurately measure the leg for custom made knee braces, has been upgraded. Designed to record fifteen different anatomical reference points, the ‘CCMI Mark III’ will replace the Mark II model, with significant improvements resulting in an even more reliable and reproducible measurement. This unique and improved measuring device allows DJO to build truly tailor-made and light weight Defiance braces that will fit the patient like a glove. |

On Wednesday May 30th, Prof Fulkerson demonstrated the use and fitting of the new ‘Trupull LITE’ at the DJO booth. This low-profile knee sleeve for patients with mild subluxation, mal-tracking and patella arthritis boasts a patented ‘Dual Durometer Buttress System’ that interfaces directly with the skin at the knee providing a soft and tacky interface with the patella, thus applying a consistent corrective force. Despite its small size and light weight, this brace is a powerful product and ideal for those needing the strength of the Tru-Pull patented system, without the bulk or length of the current Tru-Pull Advanced System. |
