We are delighted that the ESSKA committee in collaboration with AOSSM and APOA has selected three orthopaedic surgeons specialising in sports medicine to take advantage of this year’s DJO-Aircast funded biannual Traveling Fellowship programme. This international exchange program is supported by Aircast, and gives surgeons the valuable opportunity to improve their skills and share expertise and knowledge in arthroscopy, knee surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine in stimulating environments in internationally accredited and renowned centres.
This year’s winners are Olivier Charrois, MD who splits his time practising at the Clinique Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire and the Clinque du Mont-Louis in Paris; Rainer Siebold, MD from the ARCUS Sportklinik in Pforzheim, Germany; and Peter Verdonk, MD from Ghent University Hospital in Belgium. They will be chaperoned by their ‘Godfather’ and mentor Daniel Fritschy, MD from Geneva, ESSKA’s President. Their month-long trip, which started in mid-June, will take them to some of the leading sports medicine centres in the States and Canada in Arizona, Georgia, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, New York, Ontario and Calgary. Their trip will culminate with an invitation to this year’s prestigious Magellan Society Reception. The Fellows will make a presentation of their experiences at the ESSKA Congress 2008 in Porto.
